Before Your Appointment FAQs
Please get in touch if you have any further questions.
Do I need to eat before my appointment?
Yes — it’s best to have a light meal or snack within a couple of hours before treatment.
Arriving very hungry can sometimes make people feel light-headed, while very heavy meals right beforehand may feel uncomfortable. A small, nourishing meal works perfectly.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing if possible.
Acupuncture points are often on the arms, legs, abdomen and back. Tight clothing can make access more difficult, though towels and blankets are always used to keep you warm and covered.
If treatment requires working directly on areas such as the back, I can provide a gown to change into so you remain comfortable and modest throughout the session.
Should I avoid anything before treatment?
Try to avoid alcohol before your session.
Otherwise, there’s nothing special you need to do — simply arrive as you are and allow yourself a little time to relax before treatment.
I’m nervous — is that normal?
Completely normal. Many people feel unsure before their first acupuncture session.
I’ll talk you through everything, answer any questions, and adapt treatment to your comfort level. Most patients are surprised by how relaxing and gentle sessions feel.
Should I bring anything with me?
Just yourself!
If you’re comfortable doing so, it can be helpful to make a brief note of your main symptoms, cycle patterns (for women’s health concerns), and any medications or supplements you’re taking.
