What to Expect
Please get in touch if you have any further questions.
What happens during the initial consultation?
Your first appointment begins with an in-depth conversation about your health, symptoms and overall wellbeing.
Chinese medicine looks at the body as a connected system, so we may talk about areas that don’t seem directly related to your main concern — such as sleep, digestion, stress, energy levels, emotions and (for women’s health) your cycle. This helps build a complete picture of what’s going on in the body.
The consultation can take up to around 30 minutes, followed by a personalised acupuncture treatment tailored specifically to your needs.
What happens during a treatment session?
After a short check-in about how you’re feeling, fine acupuncture needles are placed in specific points on the body based on your individual needs.
Depending on your symptoms and treatment plan, sessions may also include gentle techniques such as moxibustion (a warming therapy) or acupressure to further support circulation, relaxation and healing.
You’ll then rest comfortably for around 20–30 minutes while the treatment takes effect. Many people find this time deeply relaxing, and some even drift into sleep.
What might I feel during treatment?
Sensations vary from person to person.
You may feel warmth, heaviness, tingling, gentle pulsing or a brief dull ache at certain points — all normal responses as the body begins to rebalance. Others feel very little and simply relax.
How will I feel afterwards?
People often feel relaxed, lighter, calmer or more energised after treatment.
Some may feel slightly tired for a short time, particularly after treatments focused on stress or emotional regulation. These effects usually pass quickly.
Is it normal to notice changes after the first session?
Yes — some people notice immediate shifts, while others experience more gradual changes over several treatments.
It’s also normal for symptoms to fluctuate slightly as the body adjusts and begins healing.
Can I go back to normal activities afterwards?
Yes — most people return to normal daily activities straight away.
If possible, it can be helpful to take things gently for the rest of the day, drink water and allow your body time to integrate the treatment.
