Is Acupuncture Safe?

If you’ve ever thought about trying acupuncture but worried “Is it safe?”, the simple answer is yes! When done by a qualified acupuncturist, acupuncture is a very safe and gentle treatment.

One of the biggest concerns people have is needles—so let’s clear that up straight away! I use sterile, single-use needles for every treatment. They come in a sealed pack, are used once, and then go straight into a medical sharps bin. No reusing, no risk of infection—just safe, clean treatment every time.

Another thing you might not know is that acupuncturists train extensively in anatomy and physiology as part of our degree. We don’t just learn where acupuncture points are—we also study the structure of the body to make sure we’re needling safely and effectively. Every point we use has been studied for safety, and we follow clear guidelines to keep treatments comfortable and risk-free.

For most people, acupuncture is actually really relaxing. Some feel a little tingle or dull ache when the needles go in, but many don’t feel much at all. Afterwards, people often say they feel calmer, lighter, or just more balanced. Occasionally, you might get a tiny bruise, but serious side effects are extremely rare.

If you’ve been curious about acupuncture but had concerns, I’m always happy to chat and answer any questions. Your safety and comfort are my priority—so if you’re ready to give it a go, get in touch!
